Fidelity's history with digital assets

Fidelity was one of the first traditional financial firms to formally research bitcoin and blockchain technology. This early work laid the foundation for its business today. In 2015, it began accepting bitcoin as charitable donations through its charitable arm, Fidelity Charitable.
